Maternity and Peternity Rights
The Employment Act 2002 made important changes in the law governing maternity, paternity and related rights. These included the introduction of new rights to paternity leave and Statutory Paternity Pay, to adoption leave and to Statutory Adoption Pay.
Additionally, there were important changes to maternity leave (which was extended to one year) and Statutory Maternity Pay. The changes substantially enlarged the range and content of the entitlements of employees with parental or childcare responsibilities.
